Why should I sign up for alerts?
Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police, along with partner agencies such as: Savannah Fire and Emergency Services, the City of Savannah Citizen’s Office, City of Savannah Government, Chatham County Government and Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) have purchased the system to provide you with the most timely and accurate information in an emergency.
The system has home phone numbers but does not contain cellphones, texts messages and email addresses.
The more accurate your contact information the better your chances of being notified.
Can I Pick the alerts I want to receive or no longer want to receive?
Yes, once you pick a username and password for the portal you can sign up and remove yourself from lists as often as you want.
Is there an App for that?
Yes, there is an app? Under the signup portal are the links for the Apple, Android and Windows Mobile applications available. You can also receive alerts directly to the app based on the time the phone is powered on.
What alerts will I get?
With only verifying your home information, and not signing up for any new lists, you will only receive emergency messages. These messages will be more generalized and you may not receive notifications about any events specific to your neighborhood if you do not sign up for the neighborhood.
Emergency alerts will include things like missing/endangered persons (or children), Large Scale Events, depending on your location parade routes, Hazardous material issues, SWAT or Hostage Situations, and other Large Scale Emergencies.
How Secure is my Information?
Information kept in the system is secure, and will NEVER be sold or used for advertising purposes.
All information sent out over Swiftreach to you will be sent by an authorized source. It will be the most accurate, timely and approved information as it is coming from the source.
How will I be notified?
The system will automatically place a phone call to all listed landline phones. If the system doesn’t receive and answer it will wat 3 minutes and try again.
If you provide a text address/phone number the system will notify you immediately via ext message.
