One team, one vision, one mission
Savannah Metro Police Logo
... is the motto of the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Bomb Squad. The unit trains on a regular basis to ensure the safety of citizens and members of the team.

They are responsible for responding to suspicious packages or any device believed to be a hazard or dangerous in nature. The Bomb Squad, using a wide variety of tools and techniques, determines the proper rendering safe procedures at a call out scene. The safety of our community is our primary consideration.

The Bomb Squad has twelve members, six who are graduates of the FBI Hazardous Device School in Huntsville, Alabama, the only civilian bomb technician school in the United States. The SCMPD Bomb Squad is also accredited by the FBI. In order to maintain certification, Bomb Techs must return to Huntsville every three years to complete a recertification course. Bomb squad members work for various units within the police department and respond to calls as needed. The Bomb Squad has formal training at least 16 hours a month and participates in educational and awareness training with the community throughout the year.

The SCMPD Bomb Squad works in partnership with tactical paramedics from MedStar as an additional safety measure. SCMPD is one of less than a dozen departments across the nation to do so.
